Why Pangaea?

When we dreamed about creating our practice, we wanted a name that reflected more than just the services we provide. We wanted it to reflect the way we see birth, families, and the relationships we build.

“We believe birth is an ancestral tradition rooted in intuition, relationship, and trust.”

Pangaea was once a single landmass, before the continents drifted apart. To us, it represents connection, shared roots, and the understanding that, despite our differences, we are more alike than we are different. When we were searching for a name for our practice, we kept coming back to words that reflected the kind of care we hoped to provide.
When we think of Pangaea, we think of words like…
Traditional
Authentic
Together
Mother Earth
Original
Intuition
Community
Home
These words have guided our practice since the beginning.
We don't believe our role is to make decisions for other families. We believe our role is to provide thoughtful education, compassionate support, and individualized care so each family can confidently make decisions that align with their own values. We believe pregnancy and birth are normal physiologic processes. We trust the wisdom of the body while recognizing when collaboration or medical care is appropriate. We believe relationships matter. We intentionally care for a limited number of families so we can truly know the people we serve. We believe every family we serve deserves to feel seen, heard, respected, and supported.
Whether or not you choose Pangaea, we hope you find a birth team whose philosophy feels like home.

If this feels like home…

We know we won’t be the right fit for every family, and we believe that’s exactly how it should be.

Our hope isn’t to convince anyone that home birth or our practice is the right choice. Our hope is simply to be ourselves, share what we believe, and provide a place where families can thoughtfully explore whether our approach resonates with them.

If, after reading this, you feel a connection to who we are and how we practice, we would be honored to meet you.

What our families are saying…

“From the first conversation I had with Jewel and Jayme, I felt seen and empowered. Coming from an out of state practice, I was use to care more by the book vs trusting what women are biologically created to do. I had full reign in how much or how little testing was completed, all my questions answered promptly between appointments, and I didn’t feel like just another patient to them. They will shower you with encouragement, peace, and their vast knowledge. From the hands off approach to their exceptional after care, they are worth every penny, leaving you wanting another baby just to receive their care again and again.”

“These Women I have grown to personally love and admire in so many ways. I spent a short nine months with them as they cared for my baby, myself, and my family. They are filled with so much wisdom and support. I felt a strong connection from the countless conversations we had not just about birth, but normal life too. They empowered me and my agency to choose what I wanted! They supported me at my birth with strong hands and quiet voices. Their care continued for weeks on and still three months later I know I can contact them for anything. Pangaea midwifery is apart of our family now ❤️”

“No review could capture how extraordinary Jayme and Julianne are. They empowered me, supported me, encouraged me, and guided me exactly as I needed. Their knowledge and perspective on birth is incomparable to anyone I’ve met. The genuine love that they have for what they do is radiant, helping me to see birth in a new and beautiful way. Though this was my third baby, when I first found out I was pregnant, I felt nervous and a bit scared about facing the intensity of labor. But when the time came, I was given a renewed sense of confidence. My birth was truly the most peaceful experience, surpassing what I could’ve ever imagined. I’m so thankful for Pangaea, they are a rare gem in this Treasure Valley.”
